Simona Specialty Coffee Club Left Me Wanting More
Simona Specialty Coffee Club presents itself as a specialty-focused destination, and the space has enough charm to raise expectations before you even order. The aesthetic leans into the intimate, club-like atmosphere the name promises, and the pastry display looked genuinely inviting upon arrival. Unfortunately, what ended up in my cup told a different story than the surroundings suggested.
Items Purchased
Flat White — This is where things fell apart. A flat white lives or dies by the espresso-to-milk ratio, and this one was so milk-forward that the coffee character was almost completely buried. The espresso itself tasted thin and under-extracted—lacking the intensity, sweetness, or structure you’d expect from a specialty coffee. There was no discernible roast character, no brightness, and no finish worth noting.
Chocolate Napolitina — The chocolate napolitina was the more redeeming part of the visit. The pastry was soft with a reasonably rich cocoa filling, though it leaned slightly sweet without much depth or bittersweet contrast to balance it. Decent, but not memorable.
Rating
2 / 5 — The flat white’s weak extraction and excessive milk ratio undermined any specialty coffee credibility the café might otherwise claim.
