Great Sandwich, Disappointing Coffee – A Mixed Bag at This Angel Bakery
I dropped by The German Bakery in Angel recently after hearing a lot of buzz, and overall, it was a decent experience—but with a few caveats.
First off, the chicken schnitzel sandwich was excellent. The bread was fresh, the schnitzel was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, and the whole thing was well-balanced and satisfying. If you're hungry and want something hearty, this is the way to go. It's the kind of sandwich that feels comforting and crafted with care.
Unfortunately, the iced coffee didn’t live up to the same standard. It was a bit bland and lacked the boldness I expected. It also wasn't quite cold enough, which didn’t help—it tasted more like diluted filter coffee than a proper iced brew. Definitely not something I'd order again.
The bakery itself has a welcoming vibe—bright space, relaxed atmosphere, and a tempting display of pastries. I didn’t try the sweet stuff this time, but they looked impressive. Staff were friendly enough, though the place could’ve been a touch cleaner during a busy spell.
All in all:
👍 Go for the schnitzel sandwich, it’s genuinely good.
👎 Skip the iced coffee, there are better options nearby.
🤷‍♂️ Worth a visit if you’re in the area, especially if you’re after something savoury.
Would I come back? Maybe—to explore more of the menu, but I’d pass on the coffee next time.
