Simona Specialty Coffee Club Left Me Wanting More
Simona Specialty Coffee Club presents itself as a specialty-focused destination, and the space carries enough charm to raise expectations before you've even ordered. The aesthetic leans into that intimate, club-like atmosphere the name promises, and the pastry display looked genuinely inviting on arrival. Unfortunately, what ended up in my cup told a different story than the surroundings suggested.
Items Purchased
Flat White — This is where things fell apart. A flat white lives or dies by the ratio of espresso to milk, and this one was so heavily milk-forward that the coffee character was almost entirely buried. The espresso itself tasted thin and under-extracted — lacking the intensity, sweetness, or structure you'd expect from a specialty pour. There was no discernible roast character, no brightness, no finish worth noting.
Napolitina de Chocolate — The chocolate napolitina was the more redeemable part of the visit. The pastry was soft with a reasonably rich cocoa filling, though it leaned slightly sweet without much depth or bittersweet contrast to balance it. Decent, but not memorable.
Rating
2 / 5 — The flat white's weak extraction and excessive milk ratio undercut any specialty coffee credibility the cafe might otherwise claim.
