Motors Coffee Flat White: Style Over Substance
Motors Coffee carries an undeniable aesthetic appeal β the automotive-themed fit-out and industrial interior make it a visually striking spot, and it's easy to see why it draws a crowd. Walking in, the energy feels lively and the space has genuine character. Unfortunately, what ends up in the cup doesn't quite match the atmosphere on the floor.

Flat White β This was a disappointing pour from the outset. The espresso base presented a noticeably bitter, off-kilter flavour profile β sharp and astringent in a way that suggested either an over-extracted shot or a blend dialled in for volume rather than nuance. What made it worse was witnessing a pre-pulled espresso sitting idle on the bar before it found its way into my drink. A flat white lives and dies by the freshness of its shot; stale espresso oxidises within seconds, and that degraded, hollow bitterness was unmistakable in the finished drink. The milk texture was passable, but no amount of microfoam rescues a shot that's already past its moment.
